Bio: ***This is my personal blog where I am sharing strategies and methods I have found to be the most effective in my private practice. I relate my own experiences and the stories of individuals I've worked with who have been my teachers in learning to combine traditional with cross-disciplinary protocols to create transformational changes. The names of all individuals have been changed to protect their privacy. I welcome your comments, questions and personal stories. Please note this is not a debate forum. I will try to answer any questions as soon as possible, but understand I am still running a full-time private practice from 9am-6pm.*** Jane Shook, M.S., CCC, SLP is the Director of Center for Therapeutic Strategies located in Dallas, Texas. She received her Masters of Science from North Texas State University (now University of North Texas). As a speech pathologist she has over thirty years experience in public and private schools and private practice. Her specialty of working with children, teens and adults who have language processing problems and other learning and developmental disabilities uses a sensory integration treatment model. She also addresses cognitive and executive function skills that are underlying organized thinking, reasoning, attention and focus issues. Her early years of being a public school speech pathologist and a developmental teacher shaped her interest in language processing. Her philosophy of therapy is that a wise teacher makes learning fun. Jane has taught parents, teachers and therapists on sensory strategies topics related to the impact and treatment of auditory and multi-sensory strategies and increasing executive function skills underlying most learning disabilities. Jane is highly regarded as an expert in her specialized field of linguistic processing disorders using innovative, eclectic approaches with cutting-edge treatment tools.
